At his 2021 Lagos headline event, Wizkid, a Nigerian legendary singer, songwriter, and performer, reflected on his career and that of his mega hit “Essence.”
Before singing his breakthrough hit “Essence,” the Grammy-nominated afrobeats musician took a moment to reflect on the fact that the song had broken into Billboard’s top 10, a milestone worth celebrating again and over again.
Aside from the song’s popularity, Wizkid reflected on the fact that such a tremendous feat was accomplished by “a small child from Ojuelegba” – a reference to himself – for motivational purposes.
Olamide, CKay, Rema, Bad Boy Timz, Simi, Bella Shmurda, and a slew of other celebrities performed at the event, which took place at the Livespot Entertainment Center in Ikate, Lekki.
