• Lil Frosh Is Just A Low-Budget Lil Kesh — Yes Or No?

Am I the only one or does Lil Frosh really have no originality in him?

Maybe I am the only one. But this needs to be said one way or the other.

I’ve known Lil Frosh since around 2019 when he first became an internet sensation with his freestyles, especially the ones that had Zinoleesky on them. His music was funny then. Just funny. Like, “how on earth is this guy rapping like this”? But now, it’s not funny anymore, it’s just there.

I finally got around to listening to his “Beyond Infinity” EP, his first real project ever. The EP, at least by my reckoning, is supposed to be like some kind of reintroduction to the Lil Frosh brand. Because before now, most people that know his name only do for the wrong reasons.

He was first known signing with Davido’s DMW while Zino rejected the deal and then was disgracefully ushered out after some domestic violence allegations were leveled against him. Building a career after that could not have been an easy task.

“Beyond Infinity” was supposed to be that clean slate on which he starts his journey to stardom and tries to make something of himself, the way his counterparts have.

But I can’t help but feel like there is nothing to the guy. I mean, the music ain’t all bad, but something is missing. He doesn’t seem to have the kind of originality you will find in artists like Mohbad and Zinoleesky.

For the most part of the EP, he was sounding like Lil Kesh. But you know, not the Lil Kesh everyone loves, but another type of half-cooked wannabe Lil Kesh. The EP is a groovy one, the exact kind Lil Kesh would have made, with Niphkeys doing the instrumental job for him.

The problem is Lil Frosh didn’t exactly understand the assignment. Nobody wants to listen to a lost version of Lil Kesh. He needs to find his sound and discover himself, or there won’t be much he can achieve around here.

But like I said earlier, maybe it’s just me.
