BE SINCERE!! If Cultism Is Legal In Nigeria- Which Would You Proudly Join?
Confraternities in Nigeria are secret-society like student groups within higher education that have recently been involved in illegal and violent activities.
The origin of cultism was traced to the Seadog confraternity (a.k.a Pyrates), founded by Wole Soyinka.
In 1953, author Wole Soyinka (later a Nobel Prize winner) and a group of six friends formed the Pyrate Confraternity at University of badan. They dubbed themselves “Magnificent Seven”(G7).
Story for another day…
The law stipulates a jail term of 21 years for anyone found to be a member of a cult group or solicits members of an unlawful society.
The same punishment goes for persons who attend meetings of a cult group as well as those who carry out acts capable of endangering the lives of residents.
In a nutshell, cultism is a capital offence in Nigeria. But let’s assume it’s legal, which would you gladly join?
